The Ghana eSports Association (GeSA) kicked-off 2019 with the second match of the association’s FIFA Battle “Last Man Standing” event, which saw Nii Saki take on Cunnison at Encore Studio, Kokomlemle yesterday (4th January, 2019).

The 1-v-1 in a best out of three match battle saw Nii Saki claim victory over his opponent Cunnison after 4 games (i.e. 2W, 2D), with the match live streamed on both Facebook Live and Youtube, something GeSA President, Kwesi Hayford has made to improve the association this year.

The one aspect we haven’t been very good with is content creation, live streaming is an essential part of eSports and unfortunately that content creation hasn’t been seen and because of that a lot of people don’t know us, a lot of people don’t see what is happening in Ghana and Africa. So that is what I am trying to champion.

Nii Saki and Cunnison face off in GeSA’s FIFA Battle Last Man Standing game

FIFA Battle Last Man Standing is an event which sees two gamers battle it out in 1-v-1 best out of three match games. It first kicked off back in November 2018, where Benjamin Asamoah and Michael Wentum battled it out at Paloma, with the second game between Nii Saki and Cunnison taking place 3 months later. GeSA President, Kwesi Hayford revealed that his association had tried to make the event a weekly affair but failed stating;

We are trying to create an avenue for gamers to constantly battle each other so we brought about the FIFA Battle which is a live stream event where we tried to host it every week but we didn’t get the opportunity to do that. So once in a month there should be a FIFA Battle between two gamers.

2018 was an impressive year for GeSA as the association successfully organised event after event. Notable among them are The Girl Gamer Breast Cancer Awareness event and the association’s main showpiece Gamerfest 2018, which received the popular gamer Isaiah “TriForce” Johnson as the association’s guest. GeSA President Kwesi Hayford believes 2019 will be a better year for the association. “This year will be even bigger, in January alone every week we are going to have some activities going on.”
